FFA Involvement

JT's FFA Involvement

JT joined the Kansas FFA Chapter in August of 2018 as an 8th Grader. Since then he went on to participate in many different functions. His 8th Grade year he and the rest of his team went to state in conduct of chapter meetings. There they placed 2nd in the state. JT has taken part in many fundraisers for his chapter and community activities. JT has competed in lots of different contests. He has also attended many conferences and conventions. At the end of his freshman year JT was elected to the office of Kansas FFA Chapter Reporter. In April of his sophomore year he was elected as Chapter President, as well as Section 18 Reporter. In April of 2022 JT was re-elected to a 2nd term as both Kansas FFA Chapter President, and Section 18 Reporter.

Conduct/ Parli Pro Teams

In February of 2019 JT and the rest of his team competed in their first section Conduct of Chapter Meetings competition. They won their first contest in 1st place. They went on to achieve 2nd place at districts in March of 2019, and then 2nd place in state in June of the same year. They then competed in the same competition every year afterward. During all these contests JT served as chair for their team. During JT's junior year he helped train the new chair for the Conduct of Chapter Meetings team, while he continued to serve as chair for the Parliamentary Procedure team.

2020 Christmas Activity

In December of 2020 the Kansas FFA Chapter voted to "adopt" kids for the Kansas School angel tree program. JT had the honor of going to help purchase the gifts for these wonderful kids. He then helped to wrap the gifts to then be given to the kids at a later date. The picture shows the wrappers posing next to the freshly wrapped presents. JT was very grateful to be able to help with a very similar project in 2021. 2021's project even saw him dress as an elf and escort Santa!

2021 Christmas Activity

In 2021 the Kansas FFA Chapter took part once again in a Christmas gift program. This time instead of adopting a few children, with the help of outside donors, the program was able to give every elementary student pre-k through 6th grade a gift! JT once again helped with the shopping and the wrapping of the gifts. When everything was ready Santa came to deliver all the gifts and JT dressed as an elf to help deliver gifts and escort Santa! In the picture JT can be seen standing on Santa's left, dressed as an elf, with pointy ears and everything!

Conventions

During his time in FFA, JT has had the opportunity to go to multiple conventions, conferences, and other large events. In 2019 JT attended both state and national conventions for the first time. He has since returned to Indianapolis for national convention once again. JT also had the chance to venture to SIU - Carbondale during the summer of 2021 for a leadership conference. JT has attended a virtual Leadership Training School (LTS), and in November of 2021 and 2022 he had the honor to help coordinate and execute LTS with his other section teammates! He even led his room by himself in 2021! In the picture you can see JT and other members at national convention in Indianapolis, Indiana in October of 2019.
